ITCHY FINGERS

This contemporary tune was created by the Pipe Major Rab (Robert) Pinkman of "King’s Own Scottish Borderers”, piping instructor at the Army school.

As any instructor he wanted to leave his mark in the collections of learning by creating this melody in a very technical skill hence its name.
Finally, at a Highland Games somewhere on earth, Pinkman listening to yet another Pipe Band playing "Itchy" would have said "I get fed up listening to that tune. I sometimes wish I’d never composed it".

It was arranged by PM Robert Mathieson, who included it in his book of tunes. First performed as a march and then as a reel, this song seems to have been definitively catalogued as a hornpipe.
